Cross country running is a sport in which people run a race on open-air courses over natural terrain. The course, typically 2–3 kilometres long, may include surfaces of grass and earth, pass through woodlands and open country, and include hills, flat ground and sometimes gravel road. It is both an individual and a team sport, as runners are judged on an individual basis and a points scoring method for teams.

As usual this has been a very hectic last week of term for everyone. Over the past few
weeks, teachers have been busy offering before and after school Parent/ teacher
interviews. If you haven’t managed to speak to your child’s teacher about your child’s
progress, please take the opportunity to make an appointment in the early weeks of
Term 2.
This week has also seen our Gold and Silver Award Assemblies, with a 17% increase of
Gold Certificates being given out from this time last year. Well done everyone! These
assemblies have had lots of parents attending, showing support for the great
achievements of their children. The hall really isn’t big enough is it! We have a great
school community!

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. It is an everyday part of the school calendar and has been since 2008.
NAPLAN tests the sorts of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life, such as reading, writing, spelling and numeracy. The assessments are undertaken nationwide, every year, in the second full week in May.
NAPLAN is made up of tests in the four areas (or ‘domains’) of:
- Reading
- Writing
- Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation)
- Numeracy.
NAPLAN tests skills in literacy and numeracy that are developed over time, through the school curriculum. |
